Alexis Merry opened her 2024-2025 season in Lucca, Italy, performing Suor Angelica / Suor Angelica, as well as Contessa Almaviva / Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Lucca. In addition to her performance work, she served as the program’s administrative assistant. Immediately following her time in Italy, she performed Suor Angelica with Opera on Tap KC, and participated in the Hawaii International Music festival in conjunction with the Garcia School at the start of 2025. Currently, Ms. Merry is a featured soloist in Thin Air Productions upcoming concert series, as well as the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. Additionally, Alexis leads worship at two separate church campuses, and teaches a small studio of voice students at North Kansas City Public High School. 

She concluded her 2023-2024 season as a second-year Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, where she also performed the role of Mom in LOKC’s community outreach production of Sketchbook for Ollie. Her role study work at LOKC  included Violetta / La traviata, Micaëla and Frasquita / Carmen, and Wendy / The Shining

During her graduate studies, Ms. Merry was invited by New York Dramatic Voices to participate in their winter scenes program, where she portrayed Isolde in the transcendent Act II love duet, the Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. She also showcased her versatility in the role of “Ma” Mrs. Zegner in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up and as the title character in Handel’s Acis and Galatea with UMKC Opera. Further expanding her repertoire, she performed Anna Maurrant / Street Scene and Contessa Almaviva / Le Nozze di Figaro as part of Varna’s International Music Academy. Past performances also include Rosalinde / Die Fledermaus and Donna Elvira / Don Giovanni at Pepperdine University, with partial roles in Marschallin / Der Rosenkavalier, Nedda / I Pagliacci, and Frau Fluth / Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor.

Beyond her operatic work, Ms. Merry has a deep passion for art song, new music, and oratorio, having participated in masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Jake Heggie, William Bolcom, and Stephanie Blythe. Most recently, she worked closely with living composer Raphael Fusco in Lucca Italy on his song cycle: Love Songs from a Third Floor Walk-Up. 

Raised in a family with a global presence due to her parents’ international careers, Ms. Merry’s unique upbringing spanned across countries such as Italy, Wales, London, New York, Brussels, Moscow, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Jakarta Indonesia, where she graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. With over 35 countries visited, she is conversational in several languages and integrates the rich cultural influences of her upbringing into her artistry.

Ms. Merry holds a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Pepperdine University.
